AMD has revealed pricing for its new AMD Ryzen 7000 desktop series processors, including the Ryzen 9 7950X. The new chip offers the same core count as its predecessor, but with more threads and faster clock speeds. Ryzen 9 7950X will retail for $699 USD, the same as the earlier model.
The processor features 16 cores and 32 threads and has a base clock of 4.5 GHz with a 5.7 GHz boost clock. It also features 170W TDP and 80MB of cache. AMD is claiming that it is capable of delivering performance above to the AMD Ryzen 9 5900X, but below the Core i7-12700K.
The AMD Ryzen 9 7950X will cost $699 USD, a $100 price cut from its original 2020 launch price. It will be available in stores starting September 27. It will be available in multiple regions. AMD has been carving away at Intel’s market share, so a good price will be a plus.
AMD has also increased the cache size of its CPU. It now features two fully enabled CCDs to make the clocking process faster. It also boasts high clockspeeds thanks to TSMC’s 5nm process. The CPU’s base clockspeed is 4.5GHz and its turbo clockspeed reaches 5.7GHz for single threads. Compared to the previous Ryzen 5000 series, the Ryzen 9 7950X is a significant step up.
AMD’s new processor also features an AMD64 architecture, which will offer a 29% generational boost in single-threaded performance. AMD also says that the AMD64 processor will also improve multi-threaded performance.
