Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 and Watch 5 Pro New Features and Improvements

Here’s a quick look at the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Watch 5 Pro’s most impressive new features and improvements. The new watch monitors your heart rate, breathing, and body composition while you sleep. It even detects whether you snore, assigning you a score based on the amount of time you spend in different stages of sleep. And thanks to new Sleep Coaching technology, you can even customize your own plan to help you get a better night’s sleep.

Improved Battery Life

The battery life of the new Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 and 5 Pro is significantly better than its predecessors, thanks to an improved fast charging speed and a bigger battery. According to a new Ice Universe tip, the battery life of the Galaxy Watch 5 can last up to three days, or eight hours of usage.

This could be attributed to improved hardware, software, or efficiency from Samsung. This new feature will also be welcomed by fans of the Watch 4 Classic, which was a highlight of the watch’s predecessor.

The Galaxy Watch 5 features a new 410mAh battery on the large variant while the small variant has a 284mAh battery. On the other hand, the Watch 5 Pro comes with an even bigger 590mAh battery, which is 60 percent larger than that of the Galaxy Watch 4. This means that the watch can run up to 20 hours on GPS. Samsung claims that the new Galaxy Watch 5 can get up to 45% of its battery charged in just 35 minutes of charging.

Although this is still far behind other smartwatches, it may still be worth it for people who need their wearable to be plugged in all the time. The Watch 5 Pro is also claimed to be more water-resistant than its predecessor.

Temperature Sensor or Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis Sensor (BIA)

The new Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 has a temperature sensor built into it. The watch features a Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis Sensor (BIA) which is a curved designed sensor and also the Optical Heart Rate Sensor.

While the temperature sensor is not a new addition to the smartwatch market, it is a first for a Samsung watch. This sensor uses infrared technology instead of a standard thermometer to provide more accurate results.

The watch also has several other features that help you monitor your health. Read on to find out how these new features will benefit you.

BioActive Curved Sensor IC

The skin temperature sensor is an innovative feature, and it is likely to find its way into the next generation of Samsung’s fitness tracker. The device can even be used to monitor fertility. Using a wrist temperature sensor can detect ovulation, and it has a higher sensitivity rate than basal body temperature.

This feature may be useful for women who are trying to conceive. While it’s not an accurate measure of ovulation, it can help women track their fertility.

Body Composition Monitoring

While the body composition sensor isn’t a groundbreaking feature, it’s a great addition to the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro variant. It measures your body composition by sending microcurrents from the watch to your body’s surface.

While this sensor isn’t medical-grade equipment, it can give you a fairly accurate reading. Before attempting this measurement, be sure you’re not pregnant or using an electronic medical device.

The watch works by sending low voltage currents into your body and processing the data for you. This is the same principle that allows weighing scales to measure your body weight and composition. Depending on your region, the watch can even monitor your blood pressure.

This is great news for those who want to maintain their ideal body composition. The watch can also help you set goals by monitoring your sleep patterns and scoring. It’s also a good idea to check out the videos that are available with the watch so that you can compete against your friends.

Other fitness watches such as Fitbit Charge 5 and the Oura Ring Generation 3 are already capable of tracking variations in skin temperature. These results provide information about whether you’re running hotter or colder than your normal baseline.

Moreover, the fitness tracking system on the watch now allows you to track more than 90 exercises on the go. The new watches also feature more durability with its 1.6x stronger Sapphire crystal glass face.
