In February 2023, Like a Dragon: Ishin! will be released on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. The game was previously confirmed to be exclusive to PlayStation 5 and the PlayStation 4, but is now slated to be available on all three platforms including Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows, and Steam. In the meantime, it’s not clear whether the PC version will be released first. You’ll need to wait until next year to find out.
Based loosely on the life of Japanese gangster Sakamoto Ryoma, Like a Dragon: Ishin! takes some cues from the main Yakuza series. It’ll be a remaster of the game’s 2009 predecessor, but with added content for PS4 and PC.
The Yakuza series has become huge in the West, especially since the release of Yakuza 0 in 2014. Unfortunately, Yakuza Ishin was never localized for western fans. Luckily, SEGA is bringing the original Yakuza game to the west, thanks to RGG Studio.
The game takes place during the Edo Period. The protagonist, Sakamoto Ryoma, was involved in a bloody coup d’état and saw his mentor murdered. In order to save his mentor, Sakamoto Ryoma takes on a new identity and joins the Shinsengumi, a secret police force that acted as protectors of the shogunate.
