Free Gran Turismo 7 PS VR2 Update Will Release on February 22

When PS VR2 launches on February 22 this month, one of its first big free updates will be to add support for the console’s VR headset. That upcoming PS VR2 update will see all existing owners of Gran Turismo 7 gain VR functionality, as the title is set to come with a full PSVR2 translation, Sony revealed in its latest blog post.

In the latest post, James Stavrinides, the Project Manager, SIE, said that Players will be able to drive 450+ cars in the game using the VR Showroom, which will be accessible from the Garage.

The news was revealed during a keynote at Sony’s CES 2023 press conference this week, as the company outlined its PS VR2 launch lineup for the new virtual reality hardware. Among the 30 games primed to arrive on PlayStation VR2 at the same time as it hits stores is GT7, and a free upgrade will be available for all GT7 owners, allowing them to play the entire game in PS VR2.

As you can see in the video above, GT7 on PlayStation VR 2 features a fully immersive racing experience with a number of key improvements over the original PlayStation VR. For starters, the graphics look incredibly good on the system, running at 120fps in a variety of tracks and weather conditions.

Additionally, the game uses foveated rendering and eye-tracking to ensure that resources are focused on what you’re looking at. As a result, you’re able to look at the different textures in the car’s interiors, see your sight lines and check out the gauge clusters without any issues.

When you need to check your positional radar, weather radar, traction control level or brake bias, all you need to do is look right and the mini-UI will appear. This may take some adapting to at first, but you’ll be able to get used to it with time.
