Minecraft Respiration Enchantment and What It Does?

In today’s Minecraft guide we are going to talk about Respiration Enchantment in Minecraft and what it does in the game. If you are not already familiar with the Respiration Enchantment then continue reading this guide where we have explained everything about Respiration Enchantment.

What is Respiration Enchantment in Minecraft?

Respiration is one of the many enhancements in the Minecraft game that is mainly used as an enchantment for helmets for extending players’ breathing time underwater. It can be applied to other armor pieces using commands.

What Does Respiration Enchantment Do in Minecraft?

A Respiration Enchantment extends the underwater breathing time of players by +15 seconds when used on the diamond helmet. This extends the default 15 seconds breathing time further to 30 seconds on levels 1 and 45 on level 2, and a total time of 60 seconds underwater on level 3.

By default, Minecraft players can hold their breath underwater for 15 seconds. But, using the Respiration Enchantment on the helmet they can extend this time further by 15 seconds.

If you use level 3 of the Respiration Enchantment on the turtle shell helmet then it extends the underwater time by a total of 70 seconds. This is because the turtle shell helmet already comes with 10 seconds of underwater time and when you use the Respiration Enchantment level 3 then you can extend this time up to 70 seconds.

So, using Respiration Enchantment level 3 on the turtle shell helmet gives you the max level of underwater time than on any other helmet.

Levels of Respiration Enchantments?

When we talk about the level of the Respiration Enchantment in Minecraft, then there are mainly three levels which go as level I, II, and III. Each level of the enchant adds 15 seconds to the amount of time the player can stay underwater.

This means that with Respiration I alone, the player can stay underwater for 30 seconds instead of 15. Respiration level II gives the player 45 seconds underwater, and Respiration III gives them a total of 60 seconds time underwater.

Importance of the Respiration Enchantment in Minecraft

Respiration Enchantment in Minecraft is one of the important enhancements that help players stay underwater for a longer time than usual. It also helps players in searching for shipwrecks, underwater sea temples, collecting blocks while submerged underwater, and so much more. When applied to the helmet, it extends the underwater time 15 minutes to a max of 60 minutes. This helps players stay longer than usual underwater.

Respiration Enchantment is also helpful when you go to defeat a guardian sea temple. Players also need this when collecting masses of blocks like gravel, sand, clay which spawn beside or under the water, and Blocks like prismarine, prismarine stairs, and sponges which are found underwater and hard to collect without the Respiration Enchantment.
