New PS5 Beta Adds 1440p Support, Gamelists and More Features

Sony has rolled out a new beta version of PlayStation 5 system software that includes a host of improvements. One of these changes is support for 1440p resolution, which the PlayStation 5 community has been asking for. Sony is testing the feature as soon as Thursday, and beta testers will be able to check out the new software first.

The update also includes new social features, such as the ability to create gamelists and view your friends’ game lists. A new video output option allows you to select a native 1440p output for games. It also improves anti-aliasing in games, which is another good feature.

This beta update is only available for select PS5 owners in the U.S., Canada, Japan, U.K., Germany and France (same countries as our last system software beta), so it is best to get an invitation to participate. The beta is limited to invited testers and will run for six weeks. The beta period is expected to end in September. To test out the new PS5 system software, download the Sony PS5 beta software from the PlayStation website.

It is a free download, but you’ll need to register as an invitee to participate. The new beta version is currently limited to invited testers in select countries, and the system is set to roll out to the rest of the world later this year.

In addition, the new beta update will also add stereo sound and 3D sound.

Social features include sharing your screen with other members of your party via voice chat card. If you want to share your screen, you can do so using the PlayStation 5’s voice chat card.
