Rumbleverse is Shutting Down Next Month

Despite Rumbleverse having a small but loyal fan base, Epic Games and developer Iron Galaxy decided to shut down the game on February 28, 2023. In a recent blog post, Iron Galaxy outlined the shutdown process, explaining that players who spent money in the game, including Battle Pass and Brawlla Bills purchases, are eligible for refunds. Notably, Live services for Rumbleverse will go offline on Tuesday, February 28, at 10AM CST.

Rumbleverse has a unique spin to the battle royale genre, replacing traditional gunplay with pro-wrestling-inspired brawling. This means you can smack, punch, counter, grab, charge, dive and much more, all with a priority ranking system to determine which moves win the fight.

In the last update, the team re-invigorated the combat in Rumbleverse by adding new special moves. These can be used to break blocks, fling opponents against walls and more.

The update also added some new items, letting you upgrade your weapons and get cool drip for your character. If you’re looking to go for the gold in Grapital City, this is your best chance yet to earn XP and accessories.

It’s a sad day for Rumbleverse, as it’s yet another title that’s seen its life cut short in this year’s “Sunset Month.” While it may be one of the better multiplayer titles of 2022, it never tapped into its potential and will probably always be remembered as a cult hit that never got its chance.

The live service market is a cruel one and isn’t always receptive to great games like this. The future of Rumbleverse is unclear, but I hope Iron Galaxy will find a way to make it work in the long run.
