Some time we remove or delete our post or pages from our website and we think that the URL of that page and post are removed yes, its removed from your website but it’s not removed from Google until you remove such type of links from Google, it’s because when you post any article and create a new page then they get indexed into Google and when you remove such pages or post from your website, but you don’t tell Google by removing it from your webmaster tool account, then it creates confusion and Google shows a 404 error when some tries to open that pages. So it’s better to remove such type of Pages and post URLs from Google.
To remove URLs from Google just go to your webmaster tool account >> Google Index >> Remove URLs
Now enter your page or post URL and click continue. That’s it after some time that URL would be removed from Google.
Important: If you are going to remove any post or pages from your website then just copy the URL of that page and posts and remove them from Google webmaster tool first, after this you can remove your website pages and post from your website.

If you don’t want any of your website link to be appearing as a sitelink then you can simply remove that link from sitelinks of your website. To do this just go to webmaster tool >> Search Appearance >> Sitelinks now if you want to demote links from your website home page then choose first option ”For this search result:” or if you want to demote any specific URL, then you can simply choose the second option and add the single URL of any page or post and then click demote and That’s it.
”Google doesn’t guarantee that demoted URLs will never appear as a sitelink, but we do consider a demotion a strong hint that we’ll try to honor when generating sitelinks”.
You can’t just ask Google to show sitelinks of your website, Because this process is automated it’s all depends on Google algorithm, if it finds relevant and important pages on your website then Google may show sitelinks of your website.
